Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock was full of runners on Saturday as the 2013 Lubbock Invitational Cross Country meet came to town presented by Fuddruckers and the Lubbock Sports Authority.
Levelland
The Levelland Lobos and Loboettes both found third place finishes on Saturday as the Loboettes finished behind Dalhart in second and Sundown winning the girls event. The boys finished behind team champion Andrews and second place Perryton.
The Loboettes were paced by Sophomore Morgan McCutchen in fifth place at 12:44.00. Gabie Ruiz and April Vargas in 18th and 19th places respectively.
Freshman Isaac Vargas paced the Lobos in eighth place at 17:11.50. Brody Sumpter ran 11th at 17:22.50 while Mato Gonzalez finished 15th overall.
Sundown
The Sundown Roughettes showed off their legs in the 3A field and took the team title with 51 points and defeating second place Dalhart by a single point.
Freshman Andrea Sanchez paced the Roughettes running second at 12:09.40. Whitney Thoms finished ninth at 13:11.90 with Aryanna Quintanilla running 10th, Regan Holder finishing 12th and Hannah Jenkins at 18th.
The Roughnecks did well finishing fifth in the 3A boys field. Bo Thoms ran 9th at 17:12.60 to lead the Sundown squad.
Brownfield
The Lady Cubs finished 10th overall with Analyssa Gonzales setting the pace with a 37th place finish in the 2A Girls Field.
The Brownfield boys ran 18th with Miguel Guerrero the high finish at 41st place.
Littlefield
The Littlefield Lady Cats to 12th Place in the 2A field. Tiffany Almanza had a solid day with a 15th place finish.
The Littlefield Boys placed 17th overall led by Abrahm Lucero at 59th place.
Sudan
The Lady Hornets finished 11th led by Ashton Shultz in 53rd place while the boys were led by Omar Vasquez in 14th place in a time of 18:39.60 as they took 4th place in team points. Kort Hill aided the cause with a 15th place finish.
Anton
The Anton Lady Bulldogs took 12th place overall with Jessica Sosa leading the way in 32nd place.
Smyer
The Smyer Lady Cats ran 16th overall with Harley Hernandez leading the way finishing 24th overall at 14:02.90.
Morton
The Morton girls finished 19th overall.. Breanna Roberts had a solid finished 31st to lead the way.
Springlake-Earth
Although short of a full team, the Lady Wolverines got a solid finish from Reagan Mendoza as she finished 16th overall in the 1A girls field.
