My name is Paola Reyes and I am a senior at the University of Texas at Austin. I am double majoring in Public Relations and Sociology and completing a certificate in Business Foundations. My style could be described as laid back and urban, but it definitely changes depending on my mood each day. I am beyond happy to join the CollegeFashionista team this semester and to be able to bring you an ACCESSORIES REPORT every Friday!
I am originally from Mexico but grew up on the border of South Texas. Being able to experience two different cultures while growing up was a blessing and I consider it one of my greatest experiences. Unfortunately though, being from a small town has its disadvantages. Although there was a lot of stylish Fashionistas/os where I lived, there were not many career opportunities when it came to fashion. Once I graduated from high school, I decided to move away for college, which is when I found the gem I currently live in—Austin, Texas.
Now that I am completing my final year of college, I can honestly say I love this city. Austin is a mix of eclectic people, food, music and fashion. It is home to one of the world’s largest festivals, SXSW, which brings in thousands of visitors each year from all walks of life. I find this city enchanting and weird at the same time but one thing it never is is boring.
To get the look from my bio picture you can pair a simple skirt or denim shorts, like these from American Eagle Outfitters, and accessorize them with a plaid, flannel shirt like this one from J.Crew (or you can just borrow one of your brother’s shirts, which is what I did).
