WHAT TO WEAR: Weekend Wear | College Fashionista

When you’re finished with studying (or procrastinating) and want to get out on the weekends without any constraints to dictate your dressing choices, the freedom of what to wear can be a little dizzying. In Philadelphia, bikes are many Fashionistas’ accessory of choice and often narrow one’s clothing options. On a sunny October afternoon in Fairmount Park, bikers can be spotted speeding along the path or stopping to take in the scenery of the Philadelphia Museum of Modern Art’s beautiful backyard. I found this Fashionista absorbing the breathtaking panorama of Philly’s Fairmount district perched gracefully on her bike. Her style was more elegant than your typical biker chic in the City of Brotherly Love.

This week’s Fashionista was flawlessly dressed in the perfect mix of patterns and layers, showcasing the epitome of effortless weekend wear that we all try so hard to achieve. She paired a Free People knit dress with a flannel button down and floral print bomber jacket. The healthy mix of materials and patterns works well together since they’re in the same color family. Her simple beaded necklace and slouchy socks paired with a rugged pair of TOMS shoes complete the look. Bikeable, likeable and utterly fabulous, this Fashionista nails the casual weekend wear look.

To try out this stylish biker’s look, throw on a denim button-down top over a printed dress. Be sure all three elements are the same vibrancy and are in hues adjacent on the color wheel. Add your favorite cropped jacket and some neutral accessories, and you’ll be good to go.

One Simple Change: For a night out with your girls after your day plans come to an end, swap the necklace for a chunky knit scarf for added warmth, textural interest and layering.

Style On,

Danielle Brief
