The Ultimate Fighting Championship presented UFC 166: Velasquez vs Dos Santos 3 on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
In the rubber match main event, UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez solidified his status as the best heavyweight fighter on the planet with a lengthy beatdown of former champion Junior "Cigano" Dos Santos. The fight really should have been over in the third round, if not for the hesitance of referee Herb Dean and the hardheadedness of JDS. Dean was so close to stopping the fight that he actually placed his hands on Velasquez before pulling back. Dos Santos withstood an insane amount of punishment, before finally falling for good in the final round. Literally. Cigano smacked his head off the canvas after being pushed to the ground by Velasquez, which lead to the TKO finish.
