BART strike: Last-second proposals could avert Friday morning ...

OAKLAND — BART and its unions were back at the negotiating table Tuesday just days before their deadline — and for the second day in a row gave no warning of a possible walkout. And, for riders awaiting word on whether trains will continue running


With a week to go before a possible strike, BART unions shift stance on pay, pensions and benefits.


With only 36 hours remaining before a 60-day cooling-off period expires, negotiators for BART management and its labor unions are expected to return to the bargaining table later today to try to avoid a possible


Less than 12 hours before the end of a cooling-off period, unions say BART has shifted talks into reverse.


"We are going to go to work and they should expect there will be a strike tomorrow," said Ernest Sanchez of San Francisco Bay Ferry. "Then of course whether we actually operate that BART strike schedule or not will depend upon whether BART is on strike.".
