The fake football woes for Roddy White owners continue.
White sounds as if he will take the field this week for the Atlanta Falcons against the St. Louis Rams, but just how effective he can be is up in the air.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports White will indeed play on his iffy ankle, but will be limited:
“Limited” is a scary word for any owner looking to start a star receiver. White was nothing more than a decoy last week on his hobbled ankle, catching just two passes for 19 yards.
Those numbers came against a New Orleans Saints defense in transition to a new scheme, but this week sees a much tougher task in front of the Atlanta offense with a quality Rams defense led by corner Cortland Finnegan.
It’s great White will be in the game for the Falcons, but from a fantasy perspective it’s horrible news. Much of quarterback Matt Ryan’s attention will go to Julio Jones and tight end Tony Gonzalez as it did last week. White will very much play the same decoy role from a week ago.
Plan accordingly.
